Snippets: Minibeasts Welcome!

Building a bug hotel is a great way of encouraging wildlife into your garden and also engaging children and grown-ups alike with the world of minibeasts. Some children have made these at school, but if you want one in your own garden why not try an 'Easter Holiday Bug Hotel Construction Project'. They can be built from all sorts of junk including old pallets or bits of timber you might be saving behind the shed 'just in case'.

I built this hotel for my nephew's ninth birthday last April. He spent a happy afternoon filling it with habitats that he thought his guests might like and even let his sisters help paint it. Since then its needed tweaking and regularly inspecting for visitors. He's also recently put a sign up directing any potential guests to the hotel.
